Our Classroom music program focuses not only on developing students’ musicianship skills through guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals workshops, but also embeds music technology.
Monterey is very lucky to be an “Ableton for the Classroom” recipient and have class sets of Ableton PUSH2 controllers to complement Ableton software. By bringing Live and Push into the classroom means we are teaching young people how to create with the instruments, sounds and techniques widely used in today’s music. It connects what’s happening in class to the artists and the music admired by learners. And it shows young people they can express themselves through their own music.
With this technology students are able to not only compose, record, edit, mix, master, remix, mash-up or DJ original music, but are also able to perform them live using the PUSH2 controllers. This allows all students, regardless of their musical backgrounds or experiences to create and perform their music and makes learning relevant to their lives outside the classroom.
