Welcome to the Monterey Secondary College Breakfast Club Program! We are proud to provide a supportive and nutritious start to our students’ days.
About the Program
Launched in Term 2, 2023, our free Breakfast Club Program aims to ensure every student begins their day with a healthy breakfast, setting them up for success in their learning and activities. Initially, we served around 30 students each morning. Thanks to growing awareness and need, we now serve between 50 to 80 students daily.
Our Team
The program is driven by the dedication and hard work of two Monterey staff members, Nick and Trent. They recognised the importance of a nutritious breakfast in enhancing student concentration, energy levels, and overall well-being. With a passion for student welfare, they have cultivated a welcoming environment where students can enjoy a wholesome meal and socialize with their peers before school begins.
Menu and Offerings
Our Breakfast Club offers a variety of nutritious options to cater to different tastes and dietary requirements. Students can enjoy:
- Fresh bread from Bakers Delight
- A selection of cereals
- Fruits
- Yogurt
- Milk
- Daily hot meal options
We ensure that the food provided meets the nutritional needs of growing adolescents, promoting both physical and mental health.
Funding and Support
In its first year, the Breakfast Club was fully funded through the generosity of community donations and regular contributions from Bakers Delight. Moving into 2024, the program is partially funded by Monterey Secondary College, ensuring its sustainability and growth. We continue to receive invaluable support from:
- Food Bank
- Bakers Delight
- Generous donations from community members and local businesses
These contributions are crucial in maintaining the quality and variety of the meals we provide.
Impact on Students
The Breakfast Club has made a significant positive impact on our student community. Students who participate in the program report:
- Improved concentration
- Better academic performance
- A greater sense of community and belonging
By removing the barrier of hunger, we are helping our students to focus on their education and personal development.
