The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive and flexible option for completing your studies. It is designed for students who, for various reasons, aren’t able or ready to complete VCE or VCE VM. VPC is typically completed in Year 11 and 12, but it can be started earlier or extended beyond two years, depending on individual needs. You can work with your school to determine the best timeline for starting and finishing VPC.
Key Features
Accessibility: The coursework is delivered at a more accessible level than VCE and VCE VM.
- Assessment: Teachers assess progress through classroom activities.
- Personalised Recommendation: VPC is not suitable for all students and will be recommended by your school to meet the specific needs of a student, decided in partnership with the student, parents, and school.
Where VPC can take you
VPC will help you prepare for:
- VCE and VCE VM
- Entry-level VET, such as courses at TAFE
- Entering the workforce directly
- An apprenticeship or traineeship
Your VPC Subject Options
To complete VPC, you need to complete 12 or more units, including at least:
- 2 VPC Literacy units
- 2 VPC Numeracy units
- 2 VPC Work-Related Skills units
- 2 VPC Personal Development Skills units
The remaining units can come from other VPC units or from a VET Certificate I or above subject. You can also gain experience through workplace learning. Additionally, you can combine VPC with VCE or VCE VM units, or VET at Certificate I level or above.
What You’ll Get
When you finish your VPC studies, you’ll receive:
- A Statement of Results from the VCAA
- A Statement of Attainment from your TAFE (if applicable)
- Your VET qualification (if applicable)
- Your Victorian Pathways Certificate
For students who do not complete the full qualification, there will be a Student Achievement Profile summary that lists all their achievements.
